Rental Terms

These terms describe how renting kit from Gumbudii works, from request to return. They reflect how the service actually operates today.

Who you are contracting with

Gumbudii is a trading name of Gumbudii Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 14826649. Registered office: Alpha Works, Alpha Tower, Suffolk Street Queensway, Birmingham, B1 1TT, United Kingdom

Contact: team@gumbudii.com. In these terms "we" and "Gumbudii" mean Gumbudii Ltd.

Booking a rental

You choose kit and dates and send a rental request. A request is not a confirmed booking: we review availability and approve or decline it. Prices shown include VAT where applicable, and the total for your dates is calculated and confirmed on our servers before payment.

Identity verification

Because our kit is high value, every renter completes an identity check with Stripe Identity before a booking is confirmed. The link is created for you personally and should not be shared. If you cannot complete the Stripe check, you can ask us about alternative verification through support; alternatives are reviewed by a person and are never approved automatically. We never ask you to email us a copy of your ID.

Payment and deposits

Payment is taken through Stripe's hosted checkout. We never see or store your card details. Totals are calculated on our servers; any price shown in your browser is confirmed server-side before payment is taken.

We do not take a standard security deposit. That does not reduce your responsibility for the equipment while it is in your care.

Collection and return

All rentals are collection-only from Birmingham. Standard collection and return hours are 8:00am–8:00pm, including exactly 8:00am and 8:00pm, chosen in 15-minute intervals. Collection before 8:00am or return after 8:00pm can be requested as an outside-hours request at £5 (plus VAT) per started hour outside standard hours, charged separately for collection and return, and must be approved by us. The exact amount is always shown before you confirm. An outside-hours request is not a late return.

When you collect, we visually check a valid physical photo ID against your booking. We do not photograph, scan or copy it — we record only whether it matched. If it cannot be matched, collection is held for review.

Your responsibility for the equipment

You are responsible for the equipment from the moment you collect it until it is returned to us and inspected. During that period you must:

  • keep the kit secure and use it as intended by the manufacturer;
  • not sub-hire, lend or pass the kit to anyone else;
  • not take the kit outside the UK without our written agreement;
  • tell us as soon as possible if anything is damaged, lost or stolen;
  • return everything complete, on time and in the condition it was collected in.

Every return is inspected, and both the kit condition and the return are logged.

Damage, loss and late returns

If damage or missing items are found at inspection, we raise a damage fee stating the reason and the amount, based on the reasonable cost of repair or, where an item cannot be repaired or is not returned, its replacement. You can pay it or dispute it from your booking page, and a person reviews every dispute.

Late returns block other customers' bookings. If kit is returned after the agreed return time we may charge for the additional time and for costs we reasonably incur as a result. Kit that is not returned at all is treated as lost.

Legal review required. The loss and damage liability wording, any cap on your liability, the late-return charge structure and recovery wording, and any equipment protection / damage waiver offering must be confirmed by a UK adviser before launch. No figure or cap is stated here until that review is done.

Cancellations and refunds

You can cancel a booking from your booking page. Any cancellation charge depends on how close to the rental start you cancel — the exact refund amount is calculated and shown to you before you confirm the cancellation. Your booking then shows the original amount, the cancellation date, the cancellation charge, the amount refunded, the refund status and the date the refund was started.

Refunds are returned to the original payment method through Stripe. We start the refund as promptly as we reasonably can; how long it then takes to appear depends on Stripe, your bank and your payment method.

Legal review required. Whether the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 cancellation rights or their exceptions apply to Gumbudii's equipment-hire model must be confirmed by UK consumer-law review. Until then this page deliberately makes no claim that a statutory 14-day cancellation right does or does not apply. The commercial cancellation-charge structure also needs sign-off.

Our liability

We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We do not exclude or limit our liability where the law does not allow it, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or for fraud.

Legal review required. The limitation of Gumbudii's liability — including any financial cap and the treatment of business losses — and the governing law and jurisdiction clause must be drafted and confirmed by a UK adviser before launch.
